Help Desk access:

Computer Services has implemented a help-desk system that is integrated with our mail system. You may use your Novell username and password to LOGIN and create support tickets, and then follow up on their progress. This is the preferred method for logging support cases. Grammarly Handbook

Grammarly Handbook is a virtual grammar handbook that describes various grammatical rules and offers examples of correct and incorrect use. The rules are broken down into different categories that make the site truly user-friendly. It also shares ideas on academic writing, composition, style, editing, etc.

 

 

Grammarly Answers

Grammarly Answers is a free service where users can ask and answer any question related to English grammar and writing. Any person can ask for help there and receive an answer. Additionally, users can try to answer questions themselves and improve their English through explaining concepts to others.

 

Printers and Photocopiers:

To select a printer or photocopier to print to, you first must install the iPrint client. Just CLICK HERE to install the client, or browse to the iPrint page on our web site as below, and click on the Install iPrint Client link.

 

21st Century Lab Classroom Management Software:

The iTalc classroom management software has been installed in the 21st Century Lab (Education building)

This application will let you view and even remote control all of the screens in the lab. You may display one users screen to all other stations, blank, logout users etc. Full instructions for its use are available at http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/italc/index.php?title=Main_Page. To open the application click on the iTalc icon on the desktop of the front teacher station. Once open, select the "Classroom" button, and you should see the 21st Century Lab already defined as a classroom. Select this to open the view of all stations.

 

 

Classroom A/V Systems:

The majority of classrooms are equipped with an Extron control system and permanent projectors.  Training on the use of the equipment can be arranged through the Computer Services office.  More detailed information on best practices for resolution settings and projector operation is also available here: http://csinfo.cauc.ca/projectors

 

Items available for loan:

Computer Services has the following items available for institutional use on a loan basis. Please make arrangements beforehand to book the time you would like to use the device to ensure its availability.

 

  • ·         Flip Cam: This little video camera will shoot up to 2 hours of HD Video and attaches to your computer with a built-in USB plug for easy download. Use it to record classes, have your student’s record items for class presentation etc.
  • ·         Laptops: We have several laptops and mini computers available for loan for institutional business.
  • ·         Interwrite MOBI: This device provides all the functions of a SmartBoard but is mobile for use anywhere in the classroom.

 

Home Use Program (HUP) for Office

 

As part of the PML, employees (faculty/staff) of eligible organizations covered under the PML can participate in the Microsoft Home Use Program (HUP). This program enables employees to purchase, for a nominal fee, a single licensed copy of the Microsoft Office Suite to install and use on their home computer during the term of their employment or until May 31, 2013.

The PML provides HUP for current versions of Office Professional Plus 2013 (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, InfoPath, Outlook) you will need minimum Windows 7 operating system. For Mac the PML provides Home and Business Office 2011.
