IQAS Evaluations
If you have completed high school outside of Canada, the United States, or the Commonwealth Realms, Canadian University College may require an evaluation from IQAS, the International Qualification Assessment Service of the Government of Alberta, Canada in order to assess your transcripts. When you mail your international transcripts to IQAS, they will provide a report to Canadian University College that explains the equivalent level of education you would have received had you studied in Alberta. The admissions committee will then make a decision on your application on the basis of the IQAS report.
The IQAS report that is required for assessing secondary (high school) transcripts is called an "Assessment for Educational Institutions".
The IQAS report that is required if you have taken any post-secondary schooling outside of Canada, the United States, or the Commonwealth, and wish to receive transfer credit to Canadian University College, is called a "Description of Course Work".
The application form and fee schedule for these assessments can be obtained through Canadian University College or directly from the IQAS website at www.immigration.alberta.ca/iqas.
Please note that you may not need to apply for an IQAS evaluation if one of the following situations applies to you:
- You have completed your secondary education at a school accredited through an institution in Canada, the United States, or the Commonwealth Realms. If this situation applies to you, please refer to the Academic Requirements for US and Commonwealth Applicants.
- You have taken a standardized North American test such as the GED, SAT or ACT.
- You have taken post-secondary courses from a Seventh-day Adventist college or university accredited through the Adventist Accrediting Association. If this situation applies to you, you may qualify for regular admission as a transfer student, by presenting a post-secondary transcript with a minimum of nine credits and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, or equivalent.
- You are applying as a visiting or open student who does not plan to complete a degree program at Canadian University College.
