Our Story

In the spring of 2021, Dr. Kevin Kiers had a dream for a Centre for Youth Ministry on the Burman University Campus. He shared this dream with Dr. Steve Reasor and Dr. Loren Agrey. One goal of this Centre would be to establish Burman as a place to go for ministry resources and guidance, not solely obtaining degrees. Over the next few months there were multiple meetings discussing the possible visions, goals, locations, and names for this Centre.

In July 2021, the Centre received an unexpected donation to construct the Centre and purchase all the equipment needed. This donation was a complete surprise as no one had been asked for donations yet, this was a reassurance from God that He would bless this project. By August financial support from the NAD and SDACC was received.

Construction began in October, and in February of 2022 the Burman Ministry Centre had hired its first student workers. March 6, 2022 marks the Burman Ministry Centre Dedication Service. Shortly after, the BMC began taking studio bookings and has been continuing on according to its visions and goals ever since.

Visions and Goals

To strengthen the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada through digital media evangelism, research, leadership development, and student missions.

  1. Digital Media Production of video and audio content to support evangelism through the Centre’s two recording studios.
  2. SDACC Research by way of coordinated research initiatives in collaboration with Burman University faculty.
  3. Ministry Leadership Training through digital evangelism and by providing Pastoral Master Guide certification for Religious Studies students.
  4. Student Missions via coordination between SDACC students and the North American Division (NAD) student missions’ program.
